Seasickness afflicts everyone – anyone who tells you that they don’t suffer from it, has almost certainly never been in the situation that can cause it.


Most professional skippers get ill on ferries.

Prevention is better than cure and the two biggest causes are lack of sleep and too much alcohol.


If you do feel unwell, please tell your professional crew, straight away, and under no circumstances should you hide away down below.


As ginger is a natural suppressant to motion sickness and depending on your acquisition capabilities, stem ginger or even ginger nuts help some people.


At all times, please drink lots of water – much more than you

would normally, as the salt in the air will erode your normal hydration.
